Forum Outage - Resolved
Our apologies to all our members and visitors for the recent forum outage.
Our service provider upgraded the version of PHP on its servers to v 5.3, which was incompatible with our version of vBulletin.
We understood that we should have been able to upgrade our forum software using the incremental patches that are available for download from the vBulletin website within the licensed version 3.x. However vBulletin does not include essential database files in the incremental upgrades, which prevented upgrading to the latest 3.x version.
We were told that we couldn't upgrade to the latest version of 3.x and would have to purchase the latest vB4.x version instead. This we felt was unreasonable of vBulletin and is pressuring everyone to pay extra for an upgrade when a free patch was already supposed to have been released. It's disappointing that it's impossible to upgrade to the latest version of 3.x, in spite of the incremental upgrades being downloadable, it's like dangling a carrot in front of us and then pulling it away to tell us that we've got to pay for the latest version of vB4.
However, salvation came to us when our service provider found a way of making an interim patch work and now we are back on-line!
Thank you Richard from G-Net!
Funding for the latest vBulletin software
Maintaining the domain names, the main website, the subdomain with the forum and the administration involved just for the Internet face of the Church and Theological Society has costs which are borne by the pockets of our senior clergy and generous donations by our faithful.
We have become victims of our own success and (as well as more staff) we need more bandwidth, disk space and an upgrade to our vBulletin software. There are also upgrade options that will also provide mobile apps and a Facebook app that will help us to interact with our members more easily and with our existing Facebook group and page.
A PayPal account is in place so please do make a donation, no matter how small to: "Arian Catholic Church and Theological Society" use: paypalarian-catholic.org or Merchant ID: "3YSMXRCZXQW8E".
