I have been taught by Biblical prosperity teacher and other teachers, some of themselves calling themselves apostles, the following.
1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[a (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20John%201:7;&version=31;#fen-NIV-30532a)] sin.
Eph 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace
Mr. Derek Prince has built on this a following theology: as Jews following Moses applied blood of the Pashal lamb to the door posts of their houses to protect the inmates of the incoming Destroyer that swept the firstborn of the Egyptians, likewise we take "the hyssop of our testimony" and "testify" that we are forgiven with following words.
"Through the blood of Jesus, God's Son, all my sins are forgiven. The blood of Jesus, God's Son, continually cleanses me from all the sin. Therefore, Satan has no place in me, no power over me, through the blood of Jesus, God's Son."
Now, this seems perfect and scriptural, but note there is no grace in this statement. Over the time, I started automatically applying Blood whenever I sinned, even without a prayer, even without asking for forgiveness. I've been doing heavier and heavier sins and believed I am forgiven. Even some satanists were ashamed and afraid of my example.
But not "the apostle". He continued preaching we can apply blood of Jesus as protection against Satan on our houses, jobs, money, prosperity, cars, and how this is "a part of Abrahamic blessing."
I did all that, and I used to "apply blood on spiritual paths around me" for protection. At one time I got even so haughty to use blood of Jesus as a mine so someone would be destroyed by stepping over it. But they weren't destroyed; I was.
This preacher is now tele evangelist and a very known and trusted one, but his followers are still proclaiming protection of blood of Jesus over their cars.
I would like to hear your opinion on this subject.
How is our sin forgiven?
What do you think about the teaching stated above?
My newest revelation is that, though sins are cleansed by blood (Heb 9:22) and there is no remission of (deadly?) sin without shedding of blood, this can only be achieved by grace. Only God's will is when the blood of His Son is applied.
No matter how long we proclaim our sins are forgiven through blood, we can only build auto-suggestion, not a real forgiveness. We cannot force God to forgive us by proclaiming promises from the Bible, if God decided we did not deserve grace. ("deserve" being contradiction with grace since grace is undeserved, but certainly not something enforced through ritual repetition of selected diet of verses from the Bible).
Tell me please what do you think of teaching of applying blood with hyssop, and about the revelation I've had - whether it is from Spirit, or am I diving in legalism?
God bless,
Yishmael
